Simple apps and databases for Bath's clubs, charities and small businesses.

I take the admin off your plate, so you can get back to the work you actually care about.

Sound familiar?

These are the jobs that quietly eat up evenings and weekends. Each one can be made simpler.

  • Bookings by phone and email

People book online, get a confirmation, and you see everything in one place. No more chasing messages.

  • Paper forms

Sign-ups, consent forms and registrations filled in on a phone and saved straight away. Nothing to type up later.

  • Volunteer rotas

Volunteers can see when they're on, swap shifts and get reminders without a round of group emails.

  • Membership lists

One up-to-date list of members, renewals and payments that the whole committee can trust.

  • Waiting lists

A fair, clear waiting list that lets people know where they stand and tells you who's next.

  • Quotes and job tracking

For builders and trades: send quotes quickly, track each job, and know what's been paid.

And the spreadsheet only one person understands? That can go too.

You see it early and often, so it works the way your people actually work.

  4. I stay on hand

Once it's running, I'm still here for questions, tweaks and support.

Walking Solves

Member and admin app

Walking Solves is a friendly community walking group based in Bath. It brings people together to get outdoors, stay active and make new friends. I built them a simple, welcoming app that makes taking part easy.

Members can browse upcoming local walks, book a place in a few taps and keep up with news like bad-weather updates. After each walk they can write a short diary entry and earn badges as their miles add up.

Behind the scenes, organisers and walk leaders can plan walks, check people in on the day and keep everyone safe. This leaves them free to focus on what matters most: getting the community walking together.

Martin Stewart outdoors in a cap and glasses

Hello, I'm Martin

I'm a software developer based in Bath, working with charities, clubs and small businesses across Bath and North East Somerset and nearby Wiltshire. For more than five years I've been building apps for small organisations, and I've shipped over 100 of them.

I like the practical side: sitting down with the people who do the work, understanding what's slowing them down, and building something simple that fixes it. You won't get jargon from me, and you'll always be talking to the person who builds your app.

Away from the keyboard I'm a musician. I play guitar, drums and bass, so I know a bit about how clubs and groups really run.

Common questions

How much does a custom app cost?

A full app usually starts from around £2,000, or around £1,500 for charities and CICs. Smaller database jobs are £50 an hour. You'll get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Do you work with charities and community groups?

Yes. Charities, CICs, clubs and community groups are a big part of what I do, and there's a reduced price for charities and CICs.

Which areas do you cover?

I'm based in Bath and work with organisations within about 20 miles, including Bristol, Keynsham, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Frome, Corsham, Midsomer Norton and Radstock. I'm happy to meet in person or talk on a call.

Do I need to know anything technical?

Not at all. You tell me how things work now and what's taking up your time. I'll explain everything in plain English and build it around the way your people already work.

Can you fix the spreadsheet or database we already have?

Often, yes. Tidying up or improving an existing spreadsheet or database is charged at £50 an hour, and I'll tell you up front roughly how long it should take.

What happens once the app is built?

I stay on hand for questions, small changes and support, so you're never left on your own with it.
